Track 09

Bible Thumpin' ©HDHE 2025

Jeremiah traveled to the top of the mountain

Stayed for 14 days they never found him

He’s buried there at the tent revival

Drinkin’ rott gut whiskey words from the bible

Bible stompin’ rhythm to the beat of a kick drum

Preacher stompin’ gospel to the break of dawn

Playin’ rhythm guitar in a hillbilly band

Preacher moving people all night long

Bible thumpin’

Bible thumpin’

Here comes the preacher man

Bible thumpin’

Better run as fast as you can

He lived a life of women and whiskey

Preacher got him drunk, he came up missing

Them local boys were determined to find him

Preacher lost his life when they got behind him

Bible stompin’ rhythm to the beat of a kick drum

Preacher stompin’ gospel to the break of dawn

Playin’ rhythm guitar in a hillbilly band

Preacher moving people all night long

Bible thumpin’

Bible thumpin’

They walked around

Bible thumpin’

Coming to your town

He was a local boy

So of course he had some friends

Got into that mountain top

With the sounds of gospel hymns

They saw some sites

That’ll make your mama cringe

Preacher go by in his Cadillac

That’s when they got revenge

Here’s a little story

About walkin’ in the woods

Only come round about twice a year

And you wish they never would

If you listen close

You’ll hear them scream and shout

They play that guitar so damn good

Smack the taste right out your mouth

He had a golden tongue and powder in reserve

The liquor hit him so damn fast

You never seen him swerve

He lost his life down at dead man’s curve

They did what others tried to do

But they never had the nerve

Here’s a little story about the preacher man

If you see him come around

You better run as fast as you can

Jeremiah’s ghost still roams that mountain top

And he plays that guitar so damn good

He ain’t never gonna stop
